MRT is a cognitive-behavioral program designed to bring about change in our clients' lives through identity formation and decision-making. MRT can help clients improve their self-image, develop a positive identity, increase productivity, build social support, and gain more control over their lives. It is a 12-step, workbook-based program. The goal of MRT is to help clients avoid and stay away from illegal activity and related problems in the future by redirecting their lives through MRT. The program requires homework outside of group sessions, including reading, writing/drawing assignments, and self-reflection. Clients share their progress through presentations in group. All MRT groups are open-ended, meaning new participants can join at any time. Group members support each other in progressing through the steps by providing feedback, and the group setting offers an opportunity for participants to learn from one another.
